I am sitting here with Emmie and Seven – owners of Young T & Tea, a new café selling bubble tea and other beverages opening on May 16, 2021. Emmie attended CWU on campus for the past three years and graduated in 2020. Seven also attended CWU, but his schooling was at the Lynnwood campus, while he was still in the Seattle area. He graduated from CWU in 2016. Seven made the move to Ellensburg earlier this year and the decision was made because the two wanted to open their business, which will focus on beverages for the first couple of months as they add a kitchen to the space in the Elmira building at 117 E 4th Ave downtown (former Grapes & Crepes). Seven is a chef by nature, having worked in the restaurant field on the west side for the past five years. By end of summer, the two have a goal of serving delicious Vietnamese/Thai fusion meals. Stay tuned E-burg for this new food option!
I asked the two why they chose to open their business in Ellensburg. I knew that school brought the two to E-burg but what they found was there weren’t many Asian food options and no bubble tea in town. Emmie decided to serve bubble tea and other beverages out of her home when she had spare time in hopes that she would be able to meet people in her new town. And meet people she did! Little did she know that making beverages and giving them to her new friends would lead to this business venture. Both really love the vibe of Ellensburg – especially downtown. They looked at a couple of spaces before choosing this location. Emmie and Seven talked about their Signature Milk tea and I cannot wait to try it. But Emmie also shared that they have a Top 10 list of beverages that her new friends (customers) will be able to choose from. Grand Opening is May 16 at 10 am and Young T & Tea will be offering a 20% discount on all purchases for the first two weeks – May 16-30.
In case you’re wondering what bubble tea is – Bubble Tea is the name given to the wide variety of refreshing flavored fruit teas and milk teas served ice cold or piping hot with chewy tapioca balls that you suck up through a big fat straw! Taste Our Balls! is their motto and I am excited to do so.
Young T & Tea currently has five team members on staff and Seven expects that he will need to hire additional employees when they begin serving food.
Hours of operation to start are as follows:
Monday: 11 AM-7 PM
Tuesday–Thursday: 11 Am-8 PM
Friday– 11 AM-9 PM
Saturday– 9 AM-9 PM (early start for Farmers Market)
Sunday– 10 AM-7 PM
