Summer is coming to a close and fall is creeping up on us. The excitement and chaos of Labor Day has passed, kids are back in school, and we are quickly moving into September. For the EDA, this means event season is about to be in full swing!
Believe it or not, fall and winter are the busiest seasons for the EDA office. Between the months of September and January we will host 8 separate events including Buskers in the Burg, Plaid Friday, Moments to Remember, Girls Night Out, and many more! This year, we are excited to announce, that we will also be rolling out an all new holiday event, the Community Gift Exchange!
Aside from EDA staff being in full force event planning mode, our committees have also been working hard on all kinds of new and exciting projects.
Our Promotions committee, which helps with event planning and promotion of the downtown core, has been gathering articles and other content for the Hometown Holidays publication that is put out by the Daily Record each year. For those of you who aren’t familiar with this publication *gasp* Hometown Holidays comes out every Halloween and features a two month calendar (November & December) which lists all kinds of community events going on in Kittitas County during the holiday season. It is also full of various lifestyle articles which feature local businesses and organizations.
Our Design committee is responsible for keeping downtown Ellensburg beautiful. Some of their current projects include downtown roofline lighting, pedestrian safety, and ongoing beautification. Of all the things our design committee is works on, my favorite project is what the committee has planned for the downtown planters this winter. Let me tell you, they are going to look amazing. We are all in for a treat.
The Organization committee has been keeping busy as well. Some of their current projects include volunteer relations, the Annual Meeting, and work plan review.
As always, the EDA staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers are keeping busy. As our Organization continues to grow and evolve, we are always looking for new ideas and volunteers. If any of the projects listed above spark your interest, please join us for any of our upcoming committee meetings, which are listed below.
Monday, September 11 @ 5:30 pm
