Ellensburg is home to so many wonderful small businesses. I think we can all agree that supporting them is important to our local economy and business mix. Sometimes, it can be overwhelming to figure out the right way to support small businesses, so here are some tips on how you can show your favorite places some love.
Shop/Dine/Utilize a Service
This one is pretty obvious, but if you are wondering the best way to support a small business, it is to spend money there. When you financially support small businesses, you receive a whole bunch of benefits, such as:
- Face to face customer service.
- The satisfaction of supporting your neighbor (we are all neighbors in Ellensburg).
- Having a hand in creating an environment where small businesses thrive, encouraging other small businesses to open, which expands business mix.
Share the love.
A free way to support small business is to share your great experiences with your friends and family! I will boast about a wonderful experience dining out, shopping, or utilizing a service and people will say they have never even heard of that location. Don’t keep all your small business favorites a secret. Share the love!
Ahh, social media. We love to hate it, don’t we? But since you are on it all the time (don’t lie!) you might as well like and follow your favorite places. This way, you won’t miss out on any specials, discounts, or giveaways. You can also easily share their posts to spread information about the location without having to call up each of your friends individually. Just remember, when you see a post you enjoy, interact with it! It helps the admin of the social media page reach more people if you like, share, comment, or tag your friends.
Try New Places!
It can be hard to break out of the routine of eating at the same places or shopping at the same stores, but remember to check out new places here and there. When a new place opens, they need customers to help them work out the kinks and create a smooth operation. Your support (and patience) could be the reason why someone succeeds, and that is pretty awesome if you ask me.
So remember this holiday season, and all seasons after that, to support your local small businesses. You have the power to create a thriving, entrepreneur-friendly environment! Don’t let your power go to waste.
