Why did you choose to own a business in Ellensburg?

My husband and I were living on the island of Oahu in Hawaii and had begun exploring new places to be closer to our children (my daughter is going to school at NYU and my son is graduating high school in 2021).  I made a spreadsheet of places that had the qualities we were looking for and the Wenatchee area was one of the places that stood out.  I always wanted to run a bookstore and Pearl Street Books popped up for sale last year.  I came to check it out and fell in love with the area.  We are now building a home in Ellensburg and my husband and son will join me once my son graduates.

What other DT businesses do you frequent or partner with?

I’ve found a few favorites so far like my neighbor The Dakota Cafe, Hayday Bakery, and Gallery One.  I have been trying to get around and introduce myself.  Everyone has been so welcoming and made me really feel at home and are so appreciative of having a local bookstore.

What are some hobbies or activities outside work?

I was active in community theatre in Hawaii—acting, singing, and dancing—it will be fun to get involved here.  I also enjoy the outdoors, especially hiking and kayaking.  And, of course, I’m an avid reader.

I shoveled snow for the first time recently and got a “thumb’s up” from the postmaster.
