I have been a regular attendee at the National Main Street Conference since 2011. Each year, I sit in a beautiful auditorium and hear the short, prestigious list of semi-finalists announced during the Great American Main Street Awards (GAMSA). In 2019, for my first time, I’ll have the distinct privilege of hearing a Washington community announced.

Throughout my nearly 3 years working for a non-profit, I have noticed that there can be some confusion about how we function. Often times, when I explain to a new friend that I work for a non-profit it is followed by a mini question and answer session so we can be on the same page. Below are four misconceptions regarding non-profits that I have come across and would like to set straight.

Summer is coming to a close and fall is creeping up on us.  The excitement and chaos of Labor Day has passed, kids are back in school, and we are quickly moving into September. For the EDA, this means event season is about to be in full swing!
