If you are involved with downtown Ellensburg, or have been following the construction buzz around town, you are undoubtedly familiar with the name Steve Townsend. Steve and his wife Ruth are heavily involved with downtown Ellensburg committees and programs. They are also two of the partners with Hotel Windrow, a 59-room boutique hotel connected to the recently renovated Elks building.

I grew up in the country on the Moe farm east of town so going to “town” (as we referred to it) was always a special treat. I look back on these times with fond memories. I’d like to think it wasn’t long ago that I was in downtown Ellensburg with my family visiting the stores of my childhood or attending a special event.

She has a new role at the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce while I work at Central Washington University. We both volunteer for the EDA.
